為突破全球疫情困境並因應網路交流趨勢,本系特別建置遠距教學多功能空間,尤其著重現場演奏音質的提升,仍持續與國際接軌。本計畫使本系師生於近三年開始透過線上遠距方式,與國外大師進行網路互動,進行各種國際交流計畫,接續完成「作曲國際大師班」、「小提琴樂團片段線上大師班」、「中提琴線上大師班」、「低音提琴線上大師班」。使藝術交流不受防疫與地理限制,讓學習觸角延伸至最大值。
113年持續辦理相關計畫,隨著新冠疫情趨緩,各國邊境陸續解封,國際交流也逐漸恢復實體交流,本系分別於112-2、113-1分別辦理三場遠距國際大師班。期望透過不同器樂、演奏、音樂各學門之國際知名大師的指導,提升同學們自身的專業能力、拓展國際視野,藉由交流接觸國際大師,與世界名校建立連結契機,為同學們日後出國深造或未來專業發展,創造更多的機會與可能。

A native of Seoul, Korea, Choong-Jin (C.J.) Chang became principal viola of The Philadelphia Orchestra in 2006 after having joined the Orchestra in 1994. He made his performance debut as a 12-year-old violinist with the Seoul Philharmonic as winner of the grand prize in Korea’s Yook Young National Competition. In 1981, at the age of 13, he moved to the United States to attend the Juilliard School of Music. He subsequently studied in Philadelphia at the Esther Boyer College of Music of Temple University and at the Curtis Institute of Music, from which he received degrees in both violin and viola. His primary teachers were Jascha Brodsky and retired Philadelphia Orchestra Principal Viola Joseph dePasquale.
Mr. Chang made a successful solo debut recital at Carnegie Hall in 2007 and since then has appeared in numerous recitals in the United States and South Korea. In 2008 he was featured as a soloist with The Philadelphia Orchestra during its Asian Tour, performing in Seoul and Shanghai, and its summer residency at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. He made his Philadelphia Orchestra subscription solo debut in 2009 and since then has been a frequent soloist with the ensemble including last season’s performances of Bartók’s Viola Concerto. In 2013 Mr. Chang planned the Bach and Hindemith Project, which included all 19 pieces from both composers and was performed in four recitals over a year at the Kuhmo Arts Hall in Seoul. As a chamber musician, he performs with the world’s great musicians at many prestigious festivals throughout the United States and Asia.
Mr. Chang is a founding member of the Johannes Quartet, whose debut performances at Philadelphia’s Ethical Society and at Carnegie Hall in New York City received glowing reviews. Since 1997 the Quartet has performed to audience and critical acclaim throughout the United States. The Quartet recently premiered Esa-Pekka Salonen’s new quartet, Homunculus, and William Bolcom’s new octet, Double Quartet, with the Guarneri Quartet.
Alongside his extensive performing activities, Mr. Chang is a respected teacher on both violin and viola. Among his former pupils are members of The Philadelphia Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra, as well as many winners of major competitions. He currently serves as the viola professor at Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Conservatory of Music and as an artist/faculty at the Aspen Music Festival and School during the summer.

Acclaimed for his inspirational performances and eloquent musicianship, cellist Paul Watkins enjoys a distinguished career as a concerto soloist, chamber musician, and conductor. Appointed Principal Cellist of the BBC Symphony Orchestra at age 20, he performs regularly as a concerto soloist with major orchestras throughout the world, including eight concerto appearances at the BBC Proms. A dedicated chamber musician, Watkins was a member of the Nash Ensemble from 1997 to 2013 and joined the Emerson String Quartet in May 2013. In 2014, he was appointed Artistic Director of the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival in Detroit. Watkins also maintains a busy career as a conductor and, since winning the 2002 Leeds Conducting Competition, has conducted all the major British orchestras and many others in the USA, Europe, Australia, and Japan. Watkins has made over 70 recordings, including 18 solo albums for Chandos, as well as chamber music discs for Decca Gold, Deustche Grammophon and Hyperion.
At the Yale School of Music, Watkins teaches a studio of graduate-level cellists, coaches chamber ensembles, and directs the Yale Cellos with Assistant Professor Adjunct of Cello Ole Akahoshi. He has been featured in performance many times at Yale as a member of the Emerson String Quartet.
Born in 1970, Watkins studied cello with William Pleeth, Melissa Phelps, and Johannes Goritzki. He plays on an instrument made by Domenico Montagnana and Matteo Goffriller in Venice, circa 1730.

Jessica Lee joined The Cleveland Orchestra as assistant concertmaster with the start of the 2016-17 season. She is the Grand Prize Winner of the 2005 Concert Artists Guild International Competition and has performed around the world, including as guest soloist with the Pilsen Philharmonic, Gangnam Symphony at the Seoul Arts Center, and the Malaysia Festival Orchestra (for the gala birthday celebration of the Sultan of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur), as well as in recital at the Rudolfinum in Prague. She has also appeared with the Houston Symphony and other orchestras across the United States, and has performed in recital at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium and Weill Recital Hall, as well as at the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C., Caramoor Festival, and Asociacion National de Conciertos in Panama. Summer appearances include performances at the Bridgehampton, Santa Fe, Music@Menlo, Lake Champlain, and Olympic music festivals.
An active chamber musician, Jessica was a long-time member of the Johannes String Quartet, which toured with the legendary Guarneri String Quartet in its farewell season. She was a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Two and has made many appearances at Alice Tully Hall and the Rose Studio. Ms. Lee has toured frequently with Musicians from Marlboro, including appearances at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Boston’s Gardner Museum, and is a member of the conductor-less string ensemble ECCO (East Coast Chamber Orchestra), with which she has performed at Town Hall and the Kennedy Center.
A native of Virginia, Jessica Lee began playing the violin at age three and captured national attention with a feature article in Life magazine. Following studies with Weigang Li of the Shanghai Quartet, she was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music at age 14 and earned a bachelor’s degree under the tutelage of Robert Mann and Ida Kavafian. Ms. Lee completed her studies with Robert Mann for a master of music degree at the Juilliard School. Prior to joining The Cleveland Orchestra, she was a member of the faculty at Rutgers University and Vassar College.

Alexander Sitkovetsky is a violin professor and Artist-in-Residence at SMU Meadows School for the Arts. Sitkovetsky was born in Moscow, Russia to a family with a well-established musical tradition. He made his concerto debut at the age of eight, and the same year moved to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School where he is now an Associate Artist. Lord Menuhin was his inspiration throughout his school years, and they performed together on several occasions.
In 2016, following a three-year residency at the Lincoln Center in New York City through the prestigious Bowers Program of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS), Sitkovetsky received the Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award and now retains a position on the CMS artist roster, making several visits annually to perform at the Center. Also an alumnus of The Royal Academy of Music in London and the Kronberg Academy, Germany, Sitkovetsky’s outstanding talents as soloist, orchestra director and chamber musician have attracted accolades and won many awards, including 1st prize at the 2011 Trio di Trieste Duo Competition alongside pianist Wu Qian, and he is now increasingly in demand worldwide across multiple roles. As a soloist he is regularly invited to guest with orchestras touring the UK in recent years, as well as the Brussels Philharmonic, Tonkünstler Orchester Vienna, Russian Philharmonic Novosibirsk and St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra. Key concerto performances include appearances with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, European Union Chamber Orchestra, Halle Orchestra, Academy of St. Martin’s in the Fields, Moscow Symphony Orchestra, St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmónica de Bolivia, National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra, Residentie Orkest The Hague, Welsh National Opera Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra.

The forthcoming 2023-24 season sees Sitkovetsky establish the first season of his artistic directorship in Wroclaw with five projects with the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra, Wroclaw, as well as various tours. He will also return as soloist to Brno Philharmonic, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, and English Symphony Orchestra, and will direct the Salzburg Camerata, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, the Camerata Novi Sad and the Romanian Sinfonietta. He will appear internationally in chamber music performances with the Sitkovetsky Trio, the Julia Fischer Quartet and as a duo with pianist Wu Qian.
